Web Platform, Education

My Role:

UI/UX Designer

Project Timeline:

July - December 2023

Ever wished career talks with your parents were less awkward?

BridgeUs is here to make those conversations smooth and stress-free. As kids grow, talking about careers with parents can get tricky. Our platform is designed to transform these conversations into fun, meaningful activities, helping families connect better without the usual tension.

(MY ROLE)

I jumped into the project halfway and took charge of fixing inconsistent pages. With a team of three other UI Designers, we made sure every page was on point and delivered the prototypes on time.

(VISION & INNOVATION)

We wanted to make career talks easy and enjoyable. By using insights from over 15 research papers and multiple rounds of user interviews, we created exercises to reduce conflicts and build understanding between teens and parents.

(CHALLENGES)

When I started, the design was a mix of completed and in-progress pages, lacking consistency. My main task was to align everything with our design system and ensure all elements matched our new hierarchy.

(PROBLEMS)

The existing pages were missing groups, naming conventions, design consistency, and didn’t use the design library. This made adding new designs and maintaining uniformity a challenge. In addition, we also needed more research for the exercises we were designing, especially for strained relationships.

(USER-CENTRIC DESIGN)

I revamped old pages with updated fonts, colors, and styles, creating 20+ new components for future use. I designed three digital exercises based on thorough research to keep users involved and make the platform effective.

(USER NEEDS)

Our research revealed that despite different family dynamics, cultures, and gender, all conflicts often follow a similar pattern. Addressing these issues requires bridging generational, cultural, and gender gaps through effective reading and self-reflection exercises.

(SOLUTION & CONCLUSION)

I'm currently supporting the engineering team with design questions as they build the platform. Moving forward, I plan to enhance the platform's inclusivity by incorporating diverse family structures, such as single parents and guardians, to make the experience more comprehensive and relatable for all users.
